Position Overview
The Senior Compliance Analyst will play a critical role in supporting AML Incubator’s client compliance operations. This position is ideal for an individual with experience in AML/ATF compliance, regulatory reporting, and risk assessments, particularly within fintech, crypto, and payments sectors.
The successful candidate will conduct detailed transaction monitoring and investigations (crypto and fiat), oversee compliance reviews, and contribute to the continuous enhancement of our clients’ AML frameworks. You will also act as a key liaison between clients and regulatory authorities, ensuring operational excellence and proactive compliance risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Monitoring & Reporting
- Review and investigate crypto and fiat transactions for suspicious activity in accordance with client AML/ATF programs.
- Identify patterns, red flags, or typologies indicative of potential money laundering, fraud, or terrorist financing.
- Prepare and assist with filing Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs), Large Virtual Currency Transaction Reports (LVCTRs), and Electronic Funds Transfer Reports (EFTRs) to FINTRAC.
Customer Due Diligence & Screening
- Perform KYC/KYB verification using 3rd-party platforms (e.g., Sumsub, Veriff, ComplyAdvantage).
- Conduct sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening using internal systems and OSINT tools.
- Escalate high-risk clients and support Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews, including source of funds/wealth assessments.
Compliance Program Support
- Assist in creating, maintaining, and updating AML/ATF policies, procedures, and compliance manuals for multiple clients.
- Develop and maintain risk assessment frameworks, client risk matrices, and compliance effectiveness reviews.
- Track and interpret evolving obligations under PCMLTFA, RPAA, and related guidance.
Audits, Reviews & Assessments
- Support internal and external audit reviews, compliance gap analyses, and risk-based assessments.
- Evaluate the adequacy of compliance controls and recommend enhancements aligned with best practices.
- Assist in compiling compliance metrics for periodic reporting to client management and regulatory bodies.
Client Communication & Regulatory Interface
- Collaborate with clients to address onboarding, compliance inquiries, and regulatory correspondence.
- Prepare summaries, reports, and presentations for client executives and compliance committees.
- Support communication with regulators, banking partners, and auditors where required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Criminology, Law, Business, or related discipline.
- 2–4 years of experience in AML/ATF compliance, risk management, or financial crime investigations.
- Solid understanding of Global regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in fintech, payments, or virtual assets is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with blockchain analytics tools and AML typologies in crypto environments.
- Strong analytical, research, and documentation skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Excel, Google Workspace, compliance or blockchain screening tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Certifications such as CAMS, or similar are considered assets.
